A fantastic postseason treasure surfaces, with this 1963 New York Yankees American League Champions black bat. Hillerich & Bradsby produced commemorative postseason bats from 1934-1998, for presentation to World Series winners, and their pennant-winning opponents. Well over a hundred editions were made, making the chase for a complete run a Herculean task. Say you just wanted to focus on the Yankees, and their twenty-eight possible postseason bats, then this 1963 edition would make a good start, and there are six different others to be found in this current auction. Decorating the barrel of this nicely preserved Louisville Slugger, are the names of the 1963 Yankees, in gold lettering. Lettered in green, is the legend "New York Yankees American League Champions 1963". Headliners are Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, "Yogi" Berra, "Whitey" Ford, Elston Howard, Frank Crosetti, Ralph Terry, Jim Bouton, Tony Kubek, Clete Boyer, and Bobby Richardson. Light wear attests to the considerable age of this celebratory keepsake, which was created in a small batch, for presentation to Yankees players, personnel, and select VIPs.
